Workshops and Lectures
In January 2006 we began teaching free workshops in local schools and youth programs using writing, performance, and communication techniques to introduce students to performance poetry and spoken word. Some of the workshop goals were to assist students in becoming better writers and communicators, inform students of the implications of speech, improve and apply critical listening skills, develop an understanding of small and large group communication skills and its application, improve leadership skills, emphasize personal development, and to prepare students for public performances, discussions, and debate forums.
We are also committed to the skills, knowledge, and values that will benefit the community and the individual such as: increasing cultural competence, decreasing juvenile delinquency, developing community awareness, and increasing community involvement and outreach.
